Airplane food...

My beef brisket sammich was good till june 2008. Ugh. (Interestingly, the carrots were only good till jan 2008.)

Unfortunately, I was starving, so ate as much as I could (my enthusiasm was much cooled by reading the packet and noticing the expiry date). It didn't kill me, but then again, mebbe it'll just hang out in my belly till june, and then strike.

Happy dogs

Being an ultra nervous mom, it's always hard for me to leave the pups. Especially during the holidays (travel during the holidays gets traumatizing, and c'mon, I wanna be home with my doggie family!). But Karin did a great job (dogs, home, neighbors all still there when we returned), and she sent us a photo (or two, plus sometimes an email) most days we were gone. It was wonderfully reassuring to see that (at least for as long as the pose) no one was squabbling or whatnot. Plus, we missed our babies so much, it was hard not to compulsively check for d-txts (doggie texts! quick! should i patent it?) throughout the day.

La Te Da!

for the total family vacation, you really have to make it a point to see family. well, we went from one family (sy's) to another (as they say in key west, we're all one human family). let's just say that as we walked closer to the southernmost end of duval, things became a whole lot more gay. yipppeee! (i'm feeling very gay, and very thankful for pockets of queer folks all over the world...)

Key lime pie

ok, now we've had key lime pie in key west. check.

it was good key lime pie, but i always like key lime pie. dunno how it ranks compared to other key lime pie. guess that's one of the pitfalls/benefits of globalization. pie is pie.

mostly, i was just bouncing off the walls from the three (or four?) cans of cola, a double mocha, and the pie.

waterbabies!

the kids can't get enough of the water. i think they've been swimming at least twice everyday. i'm hoping to poke my toes in the ocean. we haven't had the chance to yet, but hopefully today's the day.

this cute sweet lil service dog is smiling despite airport stress and tons of attention from strangers (including hyper bored kids...) and he helped with the interminable delays in houston. (really, he looks fierce, but he was smiling!)
