keep on truckin

weeeellll...my truck seems to have vanished. stolen, apparently. or something along those lines. tho whoever would steal sucha truck must either be hard up, or just mean and stupid. so i'm in an econobox rental (and thankful for it!), schlepping around town trying to keep a positive spin on things. (thus the random gorgeous photo of fort fun.)

other than that, i've survived another parental visit. all in all, it wasn't too traumatic. and parts of it were even fun. i drew people's faces at mass (a trapped audience!), learned about golf swings (not easy, but still boring, and much too expensive to pursue), and ate plenty of food. but i'm still recovering. sleep helps. as does doggie time. speaking of which, it's time i wrapped up here...

boba, barbacoa, and tangents
the weather's been gorgeous, and last night i found myself unexpectedly elated as i walked home from bart. it was one of those i-heart-sf moments. the sky was my favorite color--that dark blue-purple-almost-black right after twilight but before night. it was warmish out, and all around me were people bustling along on their private trajectories.

as i grabbed a taro root boba and two carne asada tacos (no, not barbacoa, despite this post's title), things felt right and like home. there's something about this place--the vibrant life here, the random tangential encounters, the multiculti food for under 5-bucks--that makes the high rents and geological instabilities all worthwhile.

happy happy new year

yep, i've finally jumped onto the ipod bandwagon...it's not the smoothest transition [working with it on a windoze box is not pretty, but then, windoze users are used to that...], but it is a beautiful thing.

and after a crazy 2005 filled with change, growth, and loss--i'm so relieved to start a new year--i'm working on summing up my 2005 in 20 words or less [here's my 2004 attempt].

and, of course, y'all know that 2006 is the year of the dog, right?
