alcatraz paddle
had a perfect, gorgeous paddle around alcatraz this weekend. the water was flat and calm (at least on the way out), the sun was shining (we watched a tiny piece of fog clinging to the marin side of the golden gate bridge...), and we paddled alcatraz. it's only what i've been waiting for all season.
and while i was on the water, i got all verklempt and choked up (in a cool-only-a-little-sappy way, o'course). this is why i paddle, this is what i love -- getting to that bit when there's nothing but water, my paddle working with 5 other paddles, and the gorgeous place i call home all around me -- and nothing else in the world matters.
miz sy and jy came out and checked out a newbie practice, and i was all excited (in an exhausted kinda way) to get my friends to check out what i'm so obsessed about. i don't think they're hooked, but it was fun to have them in the boat.
