not sure where to begin with new zealand -- 3 weeks gave me only a glimpse into the gorgeous country and the fantastic people i met there. my first week, i was constantly astonished at how open and honestly friendly the people were there. and i had to adjust a bit to get used to their pace. a little slower, a little more mellow, and a whole lot friendlier in general. only got a glimpse of the maori culture, but was very thankful for what i was able to see -- the cultural presentation at the race site was unbelievable -- hours of haka, waka taua, and cultural presentations from attending countries. even the maori queen was in attendance!
