good dog, moley

moley seems to be having a good day today. for the first time in awhile, she let me oversleep my alarm clock (oop!), scampered ahead of me on her walkies, and seemed in good spirits all morning. it was hard to leave for work, but hopefully she's saving up some more good energy for playing later.

and our sweet dogsitting neighbor gave moley some treats for t-day today. so I'm feeling fairly right in the world...

fatigue

it's been a long day, and I should be getting into bed. moley's already there, snoring sweetly in the goosedown (sorry, mom). moley's been really wobbly today. a few times I thought she'd fall into the street or off the bench.

lately, we like to share a bench in the park. tonight, moley found bits of burrito and lapped it up happily. she was so pleased, I couldn't chastise her. instead, I allowed her contentment to reach me, and I giggled at nothing and everything.

things are starting to feel harder. the holidays don't help -- this year it's hard to keep up. how can it be the END of 2000? didn't we just get here? and doesn't this mean that we're *really* about to begin a new millenium? oh @#!$%, now I gotta get another millenium kit all put together...

still, there's the old joy in gift choosing/making and the new joy in families of my own making. realized recently that cp's non-turkey dinner has become something of a tradition in my life. I'll bring the stuffing and cranberry sauce, krs will bring the fake turkey (tastes pretty good, actually), there will be more pies than can fit in the kitchen, and we'll eat all night. plus, I'll save some (real) turkey for when I get home that night.

put that clipart to good use...

the color skew is because I was lazy and did it all in RGB. hey, I don't mind the color shift -- it's all just in good fun...

once again, it's 8.5x11. use Acrobat to download and print it.

change
realized this morning that satch is starting to exhibit some of the changes the vet warned me about. small changes in her personality -- she's at times more demanding, slower, more needy. hafta admit that I've been getting irritated with her constant demands. food, walkies, food, butter, food.

this morning, as usual, she announced to the world that she was up and would like to go out RIGHT NOW. somehow, after a long bit of sleepy adoration, i managed to coax her onto the bed for a nice long snuggle. seems like she'd slept the night on the floor, and was cold. she snuggled right under the covers, allowed me to pay her some attention, and then fell into a sound snoring sleep.

it's hard, cuz in someways, it's all the moley characteristics -- just multiplied -- but in some ways, the subtlety is gone. where she used to complain only when something was immediately wrong, now she complains continuously, perhaps because something is wrong in her doggie brain, and she can't help but be ravenous and need to get out more often.

true, i'm probably spoiling her, but really, I should be so lucky as to have to undo any damage that might cause. sleepily telling her how she is my sweetest little pigdog not only calmed her down, but also reminded me what is true.

did you miss me?

I'm baaaack. sorry about the break in babblings. been busy offline [gasp!], I won't get too used to it, don't worry. to sum up my little sojourn in the unwired world:

...
geeking out
now I have the
technology to geek out at home, as well as at work -- oh joy! [actually, I am loving it, thank you], ok, ok, so this wasn't really an unwired interruption, but I was offline whilst figuring out my new lovely powerbook [*gasp*, I haven't named her yet!!!]. many thanks and props go to the IS crew who let me torment them -- especially wally and miz mr [I can't believe you do this all day everyday, but a hundred times over].

...
elections
sticking to this quote from some prior blog:
If you win the rat race, you're still a rat.
- Lily Tomlin
well, I guess at least we know our vote counts [the jury's still out on the whole electoral college thing]. and thanks to megnut, for the palm beach ballot sample. and really, I'm so pleased over this, this, and this that the ELECTION 2000 sporting event is pretty minor by comparison.

chop chop
FINALLY got my hair cut. miz z's last student haircut...which is not at all as bad as that might sound. despite my total lack of anything that might be miscontrued as help, it turned out pretty cool. got that messy look that lets me get away with doing absolutely nothing. [congrats miz z! it's about damn time...]

halloween redux
so I actually ended up being too much coffee man -- I was most pleased that one bystander knew me for who I was. and WHAT was up with all the "teagirl" guesses?? puh-lease!

unfortunately, toomuchbeerman, toomuchfratboy, and toomuchspritzgirl were the favored costumes in the castro. for awhile, we played "watch the drunks fall off the curb", but after 20 or so, it got old. yeeech, next year, I'll drink more, and have a house party.

still, there were some great costumes -- my faves included the charmin man (she was squeezing more than charmin...), cruella deville (I wish I were so tall and so elegant, damn him), and a gaggle of united flight attendants who were so kind as to refresh our drinks.

...
uh, and...
oh yeah, and I tried acupuncture for the first time. pretty dang cool. now back offline to dance my @#$ off [did I mention the new latex top, and my retail therapy last weekend? oh well]
